 Our History

The Chapel began as a Women's Bible Study led by Mary Agnes Wagner, and later her son, Pastor Paul Wagner (missionary and founder of New Covenant Community Church in Oswego, NY). The Bible Study Group quickly grew as husbands and friends began attending.

The 'official birth' of the Chapel can be traced to February 1982 when approximately twenty-five people gathered for the first time in a small, white, one-room building that stood at the corner of Thompson Road and Northern Boulevard in Cicero, NY (see picture on this page). Visitors came and stayed. As the number of worshippers grew, so did the building facilities. The explosive growth of the church from 25 to over 1500 has required the construction of three major buildings on a campus that now extends over 40 acres, as people from a vast variety of religious background and traditions came together to to worship every week.

As the number of people attending the Chapel expanded, it became evident that additional churches were necessary to house the number of people traveling long distances to attend services. Believers' Chapel Mexico, Believers' Chapel Canastota, and Believers' Chapel Fulton were founded.

Pastor Paul Wagner retired in May 2004, and went to be with his Lord in December of 2008.

Following Pastor Paul's retirement, Mike Webster served as Lead Pastor from 2004 - January 2010. Pastor Mel Hayes is currently the Lead Pastor of Believers' Chapel.

We invite you to join us as we spread the Gospel throughout the area locally, nationally and overseas. Find your place at Believers' Chapel and discover God's purpose for your life.
