Aim up!

Aim up!

Scripture:

1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Colossians 3:1-2

5Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

Romans 8: 5-6

Devotional:

According to Google, Aim is defined as “the act of directing something, like a weapon or a thought, towards a specific target or goal.”

As a Kingdom Citizen, you have a lot of work to do; it is your Heavenly Father’s will that you rule and dominate the earth, which is only accomplished by steadfastly living in the Aim Up! posture. Rulership begins in Heaven, and you can be a conduit for the Kingdom of God to be experienced in the earth.

In verse one you are told to “set your hearts,” that statement in the Greek is defined as, “to seek by inquiring; to investigate to reach a binding resolution – getting to the bottom of a matter” (biblehub.com). Verse two admonishes to “Set your minds,” which in Greek means to “direct one’s mind to a thing [to gratify the requester]” (biblehub.com).

To rule and dominate the earth, you must inquire about and investigate the Kingdom of God – after all, this was Jesus’s primary message (Matthew 4:17, Matthew 24:14, Luke 16:16) when He walked on the earth. Therefore, it behooves you to become thoroughly acquainted with it! What is the Kingdom, who is it for, what is the purpose, what is my role in it, etc.? These questions, and the like, are vital to your growth and development. Questions are the beginning of the discovery process, and you must adjust where you are aiming. Aim Up!

Furthermore, evidence of its importance is found in verse five. The statement “live according to” is defined as “Reflect the nature of” (biblehub.com). Your understanding and comprehension of the Kingdom of God will directly influence your ability to reflect the nature of it in all areas of your life: family, work, church, engagements, etc. – enabling you to experience life and peace in all that you do. You have a decision to make, are you going to Aim Up!?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for instructing me to learn about your Kingdom. Position me around those that will help me to understand your Kingdom so I can rule and have dominion over the earth as you originally planned. Father, I desire to Aim Up! and ask that you will help me to be sensitive to your Holy Spirit as I am guided through this lifelong process of directing my mind to those things that only gratify the Holy Spirit. Amen!
