Center- Day 17

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Romans 12:1-2

Today’s passage begins with the word “therefore.” So to fully understand it, we must look at the verses that precede it in order to see what this passage is “there for.” Why should we offer our bodies as living sacrifices? The end of chapter 11 talks about the depths of the riches of God’s wisdom, who has provided salvation for both Jews and non-Jews. This salvation is based on His great love for us and the redemption He provided through Christ. Because of this great mercy, evidenced in Jesus’ sacrifice, “therefore,” we ought to withhold nothing from Him! We ought to respond to His sacrifice by offering our whole lives back to Him as our holy and pleasing sacrifice. We do this by refusing to conform to worldliness, but rather living a transformed life through renewing our minds. This will enable us to understand and walk in His will, bringing glory to Him through our whole lives. Let’s hold nothing back from Him!

Daily Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you for who you are and all you have done for me. Help me to honor you and keep you the center of everything I say, do, and think today. As I choose to make you the center of my life, help me to be a reflection of you to those around me. Today, I thank you for _______, and I ask that you would _________.
