Distractions

BY GRACIE DARDAR

SCRIPTURE TEXT:

23Above all else, guard your heart,

for everything you do flows from it.

24Keep your mouth free of perversity;

keep corrupt talk far from your lips.

25Let your eyes look straight ahead;

fix your gaze directly before you.

26Give careful thought to the c paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.

27Do not turn to the right or the left;

keep your foot from evil.

Proverbs 4:23-27

DEVOTIONAL:

When we think of the enemy, we think of a being that tries to make us feel unhappy, unsuccessful, and insecure.

While all of these things can be true about him, we forget that sometimes he also wants us to feel happy, successful and prideful, but with the wrong intentions.

The enemy’s desire is to drag you as far away from the Lord as he can. And he’ll do that in whatever way works best for you.

He wants us to stay happy if it means reading the Bible feels too boring. He wants us to be successful if it means we’re too busy to spend time with God. He wants us to feel pride if it means we think we can live life without God.

Don’t let the blessings God has given you become a distraction. Thank God for your happiness, give him recognition for your success and take pride in being his son/daughter!

RESPONSE/PRAYER:

Lord thank you for the many blessings you’ve given me. Help me to stay grounded in you and not get distracted by worldly treasures. Help me live a life chasing you everyday. Amen.
