Exceeding Expectations
Scripture:
21Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
Proverbs 19:21
Devotional:
One day last week I couldn’t talk without my throat being in pain. I didn’t say much that day because of it. This was also the day Kobe and I found out some disappointing news that really changed our future plans. I kept thinking of ways to work around this news and still get what we want. I wanted to talk it out and figure out a new plan to get back on track. But because my throat was hurting when I talked I decided to just stay quiet and think instead. Seconds later, God told me I don’t need to be talking or thinking. He told me to just be quiet and let him take care of it.
Sometimes we get ahead of ourselves and try to work around God's plans because we think we can have both his plans and our own. And fortunately, it doesn’t work that way. I’ve learned over and over again that God's way will exceed your expectations. It may not look how you thought, but it is always better. If you’re in a waiting period or your plans just got moved around, give that weight to God. Let him lift the weight off your shoulders. Trust in his timing and align your heart with his because he will always come through for you. Learn to quiet your mind by handing over all of your thoughts to Him. He already knows your wants and needs so trust his plan
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for your plan. Continue to open the right doors and close the others. Please help me learn to give my thoughts to you and give me patience. Thank you for always coming through. Amen
