Foundation
Scripture:
19 Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”
2 Timothy 2:19
Devotional:
Are you a good person? Your answer is probably yes.
If you were to ask 10 random people the definition of a good person, you would most likely get 10 different answers.
Why is that?
Well, it would be about perspective, personal opinion, and life experiences. The worldly definition of a good person can be manipulated to make yourself feel good. It can trick you into thinking you are living life correctly. It can also serve as an unstable form of judgement. That is why just being a “good person” won’t get you into heaven. If all “good people” went to heaven, no one would go to hell.
So what is good?
Our God, Yahweh, has given us a standard. He is the standard. His son walked the earth to show us the standard. God is good and that never changes. There isn’t a way to manipulate God’s rules and standards to benefit ourselves. Yahweh’s Word is the same and will never change. We can make Yahweh’s Word the firm foundation for our lives, and it won’t fail. We can stand on it and build our lives off of it.
So maybe the right question is not are we a good person, but are we living our lives for our good God?
I encourage you, my family, to give your lives to our Savior and make Him your firm foundation.
Prayer:
Yahweh, thank You for Your word and Your standard. Thank You for Your purpose for our lives. I pray everyone, including myself, will live a life that reflects Your light. We love You and thank You for Your love that makes no sense.
Amen
