Perfect Father

Scripture:

2Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
James 1:2-4

Devotional:

God is our perfect father. He is better than any dad we could ever have on earth. He will provide not just the things we need but give guidance and comfort as well. He truly does what is best for us even if that means we’re put through challenging times.
Some earthly fathers want to protect their children as much as they can, shield them from harm and give their children whatever they ask for. But living up to this fatherly standard can do more harm than good. Giving your children everything they want leads to them being spoiled. Being spoiled leads to entitlement and lack of motivation and gratitude. God is our perfect father not just because he can provide more than our earthly ones, but because he knows the balance between gifting and guiding his children. God gives us the perfect amount of everything we need.
We were not promised easier lives when we came to Christ. We still face trials and challenges like everyone else. But if we focus on God's guidance, he will help us through and we will come out stronger in the end. The trials we go through are never for nothing. Reflect on what you’ve learned through challenging times and be grateful God got you through it.

Prayer:

Lord thank you for being a perfect father. Help me strengthen my faith in you through hard times and never take any of my blessings for granted. Amen.
