Roots

Scripture:

7“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.
8They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”

Jeremiah 17:7-8

Devotional:

We should all work towards having roots as strong as a tree does. Trees are deeply rooted and unable to move. They have unlimited room to grow and reach its fullest potential. We have found the best place to be planted, right beside Christ where he can provide a never ending stream of love, guidance, protection and so much more. Being rooted by Christ helps us produce the fruit of the spirit that will ultimately make your life and others lives around you so much sweeter. We should strive to become like a strong tree that can never be uplifted from this perfect spot by the stream.

But unfortunately, lots of us are more like potted plants. Our growing is restricted in these containers, we won’t ever have the ability to grow into a strong tree if we’re stuck in a pot. Potted plants are much smaller and more convenient to move around. These plants are more for display rather than having a useful function. They have no access to a never ending stream, they are only given the amount of water their owner gives them.

Take the next step to be rooted in Christ, give him all of your faith and control over your life because he will provide abundantly. Don’t just be a believer for show. Don’t open up to him halfway. Don’t just believe in him and continue to live a worldly life. Fully dedicate your life to him because we are here to serve him and others. And in the process you’ll see your life transform for the better.

Prayer:

Lord thank you for providing more than I need. Help me be guided by you everyday and serve you wholeheartedly. Amen.
